Transfers & Enrollment Conditions

Summit High School is not a school for transfers. It is a school for students who begin early and stay with purpose

Summit High School does not offer mid-year enrollment, late entry, credit recovery, or flexible placement. Our academic model is built on structure, mentorship, and long-term planning. We do not admit students into Grades 11 or 12 under any circumstances, and we do not accept enrollment once the academic year has begun.

We define “transfer” strictly: a student who has completed Grade 8 or Grade 9 in another school and applies to enter Grade 9 (standard) or, under exceptional conditions, Grade 10 (by academic evaluation) at the start of the school year only.

Entry into Grade 10: Rare, Complex, and Evaluated Individually

Summit may admit a small number of students into Grade 10 under very specific circumstances. This is not a routine option. It is an academic exception.

Applicants for Grade 10 must

Apply at least 3–4 months before the academic year begins. Provide a full record of transcripts, portfolios, writing samples, and placement exams. Undergo academic testing arranged by Summit. Demonstrate fluency in English and active study in at least two additional languages. Show academic maturity, consistency, and high personal responsibility. Commit to a 1–4 week academic preparation program held during school breaks before the official school year begins.

This preparation includes

Personalized courses with specially contracted teachers. Advanced STEM or language work based on placement needs. Diagnostic assessments, academic advising, and curriculum alignment.

This process is intensive and expensive. It represents a significant investment from the school and from the family. It is designed not as a filter, but as a safeguard to ensure that Grade 10 students begin fully aligned and ready to succeed within Summit’s advanced curriculum.

This option is rarely granted and cannot be requested casually. Final approval is made by the Academic Leadership Team.

Summit Does Not Offer

Entry into Grade 11 or 12. Mid-year or late-start enrollment. Trial, flexible, or course-only options. Placement for diploma completion. Credit recovery, remediation, or last-minute graduation paths.

Why This Matters

Our curriculum is coherent, structured, and built to unfold over time. Late entry compromises not only student success but the integrity of the program. We are here to educate, not to accelerate without purpose.

If you are considering Summit, the right time to begin is at the beginning. If your child is in Grade 8 or early Grade 9, we welcome your interest. For all others, we recommend planning ahead for what deserves to be earned.
