English Language Arts Program

Empowering Student Expression Through Literature and Composition

Explore Reading, Writing, and Critical Thinking

The English Language Arts Program at Summit College Preparatory School offers a rich and structured curriculum designed to develop strong communication skills in students from grades 9 through 12. Our courses integrate reading comprehension, vocabulary expansion, writing fluency, and critical analysis in an engaging, supportive environment.

Each level of the English Language Arts Program builds upon foundational skills. Students engage with classic and modern literature to enhance interpretation and personal insight. Composition activities range from creative writing to formal essays, helping students become confident, expressive, and purposeful in their use of language.

Our curriculum emphasizes grammar, structure, and stylistic awareness, enabling students to craft polished, coherent arguments. In-class discussions and projects allow learners to apply their knowledge in meaningful ways, preparing them for academic challenges and public communication in the future.

The English Language Arts Program supports multilingual learners and native speakers alike, promoting equity in language education. With personalized feedback and a focus on fluency, students learn to write and speak with clarity, insight, and impact.

Summit’s English Language Arts Program develops high-level literacy, critical thinking, and academic expression across genres and global perspectives. Our curriculum supports multilingual learners and prepares students for advanced academic writing, civic discourse, and interdisciplinary composition.
