Chinese Language Program
Mandarin Chinese – CEFR and HSK-Aligned Language Learning
Grades 9–12 · 1.0 Credit per Level · English-Based Instruction
Chinese Language Program at Summit College Preparatory guides learners from beginner to advanced proficiency in Mandarin. This academic Mandarin track follows CEFR (A1–B2+) and HSK (Levels 1–6), providing a solid foundation for international communication.
Instead of relying only on memorization, students build fluency through interactive exercises, conversation, and cultural exchange. In early stages, English offers initial guidance. Later instruction transitions into immersive Mandarin. Meanwhile, real-world topics and authentic resources make the program engaging and relevant.
As a result, graduates of the Chinese Language Program confidently approach AP Chinese, HSK certification, and university-level applications of Mandarin.
Summit’s Mandarin Chinese curriculum emphasizes progressive fluency and cultural literacy. With a scaffolded approach, students move from basic pronunciation and writing to engaging in full conversations and academic dialogue. Moreover, immersive tasks develop independence. Native-speaking instructors foster confidence through practical communication, peer collaboration, and culturally meaningful interaction.
