Transfers & Enrollment Conditions

Policy Overview - Transfers & Enrollment Conditions

Summit is not a transfer school. We are designed for students who begin early and stay with purpose. We do not offer mid-year enrollment, late entry, credit recovery, or flexible placement. The program depends on structure, mentorship, and long-term planning; therefore, we close enrollment once the year begins.

Accepted Entry
Grade 9; Grade 10 by rare exception only (see below).
Not Accepted
New enrollment into Grades 11–12 under any circumstances.
Definition of “Transfer”
A student who completed Grade 8 or 9 elsewhere and seeks Grade 9 (standard) or Grade 10 (exception) entry at the start of the year only.

For the step-by-step process, see How to Apply. For readiness criteria, see Academic Entry Requirements.

Grade 10 Entry - Rare and Individually Evaluated

We consider a small number of Grade 10 candidates each year. This pathway is never routine and cannot be assumed. Families should review requirements early and follow the initial documentation step in How to Apply.

Minimum Requirements

Timeline
Apply 3–4 months before the academic year begins.
Records
Complete transcripts, representative work samples, and student writing.
Diagnostics
Summit placement in mathematics and languages.
Languages
Strong academic English and active study of two world languages.
Readiness
Consistent performance and capacity for an accelerated, honors-level pace.

Required Preparation (1–4 weeks)

Live Instruction
Targeted lessons with Summit faculty based on placement results.
Focus Areas
Structured support in STEM and/or languages as indicated.
Alignment
Planning and feedback to sync with Summit curriculum and ILP goals.

This process is demanding by design. Our goal is to protect long-term success, not to limit access. The Academic Leadership Team reviews each case and issues the final decision.

Programs We Do Not Offer

Upper-Grade Entry
No new enrollment into Grade 11 or Grade 12.
Timing
No mid-year or late-start admissions.
Status
No trial, part-time, or course-only enrollment.
Graduation
No flexible timelines, diploma recovery, remediation, or fast-track promotion.

Why These Conditions Matter

The curriculum builds layer by layer. Late entry disrupts a student’s continuity and the seminar rhythm of the group. If you are considering Summit, begin with intention and planning. We encourage Grade 8 and early Grade 9 families to start the process early.
