Academic Model & Instructional Framework
Academic Model - Summit College Preparatory guides students with care, structure, and purpose—every step of the way.
Commitment to Education - Mission Statement
Summit College Preparatory School believes education must offer clarity, depth, and lasting purpose. Therefore, we emphasize academic rigor, ethical development, and intellectual formation. Instead of promoting flexibility without guidance, we uphold structure. Each student progresses through a clear curriculum designed to foster both understanding and long-term achievement. Every step reinforces values and goals. As a result, learners grow with confidence and direction.
Through consistent mentorship and defined expectations, students develop the confidence and self-discipline needed to succeed in college and beyond. Moreover, this foundation prepares them for leadership in a rapidly changing world.
Academic Model & Instructional Framework - Intellectual Integrity and Maturity
We encourage students to think critically, write with clarity, and act with intention. Rather than offering distraction, we focus on challenge, dialogue, and honesty. Our faculty mentor students through rigorous expectations and high-level tasks that build knowledge and develop character. Each assignment contributes to a larger framework of intellectual growth. Furthermore, our academic structure supports inquiry and responsibility side by side.
Academic Model & Instructional Framework - Structure, Responsibility, and Community
At Summit, we believe that structure enables freedom. Students understand what’s expected and receive support every step of the way. This clarity allows them to build responsibility and resilience. Additionally, we work closely with families. Together, we form a strong partnership between students, parents, and faculty that fosters long-term success. We also emphasize transparency and shared accountability.
Core Values We Uphold
Defined Structure: Clear academic pathways guide students toward success with purpose and focus.
Mentorship: Every learner is supported through one-on-one guidance and personal feedback.
Family Partnership: We engage parents as trusted collaborators in student development and growth.
Academic Integrity: We prioritize critical reading, writing, and thoughtful inquiry at every level.
Global Competence: Language fluency and cross-cultural engagement prepare students for global futures.
Live Instruction & Contact Time (Zoom Pro)
All classes meet live on Zoom Pro in U.S. Eastern Time. Teachers take attendance, document contact minutes, and log assignments and feedback in Microsoft 365. As guidance, a 1.0 credit course meets or exceeds ~120 Carnegie hours; a 0.5 credit course meets or exceeds ~60 hours. Make-up work and schedule changes follow the published calendar and written confirmations.

Assessment Integrity & Mastery Evidence
We verify learning through live proctoring and documented evidence. Major assessments run with camera on and, when appropriate, screen share and brief room scans. Faculty use rubrics, version history, and oral defenses to confirm authorship and depth of understanding. Grades reflect demonstrated mastery, not seat time; retakes require new evidence of learning.

Records, GPA, and Course Levels
Summit issues official transcripts listing course titles by term, credits, and final grades, plus the grading scale, GPA method (unweighted 4.0), and any Honors/Advanced weighting printed on the record. Course levels (College Prep, Honors, Advanced) and weighting policy appear in the catalog and profile. Universities and testing agencies may verify records directly with the counselor.

Gifted Acceleration & Institutional Access
High-achieving students learn through 1-to-1 instruction as the default; we add small-group seminars when collaboration raises the level of work. The ILP sets acceleration lanes in strengths, targeted support in growth areas, and milestones for research, publication, competitions, and when eligible dual enrollment. We document ability and progress so students can access programs, talent searches, scholarships, and testing registrations without missing deadlines.
