Math 10 (Algebra II Standard)

Course Overview

Algebra II Standard is a comprehensive year-long course designed to build upon foundational algebra concepts and extend students’ mathematical understanding. This course prepares students for Precalculus and Statistics, while reinforcing College Board SAT readiness. Students explore polynomial, exponential, rational, radical, and logarithmic functions with an emphasis on problem-solving, modeling, and interpreting real-world applications.

The curriculum is aligned with Florida B.E.S.T. standards and integrates technology tools, data interpretation, and algebraic reasoning. Students enhance their fluency in manipulating expressions, solving equations, analyzing functions, and applying mathematical models to quantitative scenarios.

Learning Outcomes by Quarter

  • Quarter 1: Review linear/quadratic functions and expand to polynomial expressions, factoring, and complex roots.
  • Quarter 2: Solve rational, radical, and absolute value equations and inequalities with attention to domain and extraneous solutions.
  • Quarter 3: Study exponential and logarithmic functions, including inverse relationships and real-world growth/decay modeling.
  • Quarter 4: Apply statistical reasoning, sequences/series, and systems of equations in multiple formats.

Instructional Methods

Instruction includes interactive notes, problem-based learning, graphing software (Desmos), and collaborative exploration. Lessons emphasize conceptual understanding, fluency, and application. Practice includes real-time feedback, independent tasks, and structured peer dialogue. Visual tools and technology are used to deepen abstract reasoning.
